Ingredients to Gather
- ½ cup of softened unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons of truffle oil
- ⅛ truffle (white or black, your choice), thinly shaved
- 1 pinch of sea salt to taste
- 4 pieces of 6-ounce New York strip steaks
- 1 pinch of sea salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
With all your ingredients ready, it’s time to get cooking.
Get a bowl and mix together the first 4 ingredients on the list (butter, truffle oil, saved truffle, and sea salt). Cover the bowl, and then set it in the fridge for at least an hour.
Put a baking pan in the oven, and then preheat the oven to 175 degrees C (350 degrees F).
Season the New York strip steaks with the pinch of seal salt and ground black pepper.
Heat the 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat, until it’s shimmering. Then add the steaks, and sear them until they’re browned. That’s about 3 minutes of searing per side. Work in batches of the heavy skillet isn’t big enough for all 4 pieces.
Remove the baking pan from the preheated oven, and then place all the 4 steaks into the baking pan.
Bake the steaks in the preheated oven for about 8 to 10 minutes. By that time, the steaks should be firm, reddish-pink, and juicy at the center. You should stick an instant-read thermometer into the center of each steak, and you should get a reading of 54 degrees C (130 degrees F).
Let the steaks rest for about 5 minutes. Then you can serve it after dabbing a tablespoon of your homemade truffle butter on top of each steak.
