AIM Mail is known as an AOL’s web-based email service. It is a free service. AIM Mail is not required to be an AOL member. AIM Mail strongly encourages users to use its own web interface to send and receive email. But, you can actually configure an email client to reading and sending AIM Mail messages.

AIM Mail IMAP Configuration

Obtain the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) server settings for your AIM Mail account prior to configuring an email client to use your AIM Mail account. If you’ve configured an email client but are unable to receive AIM Mail, check your settings.

The following are the AIM Mail IMAP server settings that can be used to access AIM Mail messages and folders via any email client:

  • IMAP server address for AIM Mail: imap.aim.com
  • AIM Mail IMAP username: Your AIM Mail email address in its entirety (for example, [email protected])
  • IMAP password for AIM Mail: Your AIM Mail password
  • IMAP port for AIM Mail: 993
  • AIM Mail IMAP requires TLS/SSL

Configuration of AIM Mail’s SMTP Server

When you configure an email client to receive mail via IMAP, you’ll also configure it to send mail via Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). For AIM Mail, they are as follows:

  • SMTP server address for AIM Mail: smtp.aim.com
  • AIM Mail SMTP username: Your AIM Mail email address in its entirety (for example, [email protected])
  • SMTP password for AIM Mail: Your AIM Mail password
  • AIM Mail’s SMTP port number is 587
  • TLS/SSL required for AIM Mail SMTP: yes
